I will fight a bear.

I love April and Andy from Parks and Recreation.  They are my 2nd favourite TV couple only trailing Jim and Pam.

Andy: I do love you.
April: You do?
Andy: Yea.. that's what, you know, makes the sauce so awesome.

Andy:"I vow to protect you. From danger. And I don't care if I have to fight an ultimate fighter or a bear or him, your mom. I would take them down. I'm getting mad right now just thinking about it."

I talk about Communism, again

I am not a communist.  I do think that communism is a wonderful idea, if it worked, I think I might be all for it ( I haven't decided between socialism or communism for my perfect ideal yet)  I will never be a communist, unless you remove all the evil and greed from this world.  I will say I'm a democratic socialist and a nationalist.  Communist never.  I will defend the real form of communism, it gets a bad rap.  I just don't want to be labeled a communist, because I'm not.

I am....

I am anonymous

Healthcare and Hyper Conservatism.

*Warning
This is a min-rant if you are in anyway a hyper-conservative,  like homebirths, fox news or don't vaccinate your kids do not read this post.  Also if you disagree with government lead healthcare, or don't like Canada...you just shouldn't read this blog.

Sometimes I'm on the outside.  Right now is one such time.  I read blogs I shouldn't, blogs that drive me up the wall.  Everything I read there just makes me mad.  It's a horrible habit of mine.
I am a nationalist, I am very much.  I believe Canada is the absolute best country in the entire world, I think we're too closely linked with the United States, I don't think the Queen should be the head of our government.   I think that our federal medical care is the best thing that could ever happen to a nation.
Socialized healthcare is great, because really who wants to pay for your right to live.  To see even Canadians opposed to it makes me sick.  No one, we pay for it through taxes, so it's not free.  I am not am overly big supporter of homeschool, homebirths, home churching.  The only home thing I fully support is Homemaker, and home fries, I love home fries.  I am in many peoples words a follower of Big Daddy government.  Thankfully not Big Brother.  I don't understand this, I like safety.  If I fall sick I don't want my family to have to pay insanely huge amounts of money because my government doesn't want to help its citizens.  It makes me really sad.  Yes in government lead healthcare they do also pay for abortion, they do it's a fact because that kind of murder is legal in Canada.  It is a high price to pay.  Canada will never revoke it's national health care, so don't even bother whining about it.
In my European History class we discussed how if the United States really knew what was going on up here they would be sacred to death.  We have the NDP which is so "liberal" it would scare them, we have a separatist party and not one but 2 communist parties (which I think rocks, yay for political freedoms)
I am clearly a blind follower who knows nothing about politics and has had my brain washed by government schooling here.  I hope no one believes this about me.  I used to be a blind follower, and now I'm not.  I branched out.  My new political views scare my mom from time to time.
I am not fan of hyper-Conservatism.  I think its horrible, it is blind following.  It like really really terrifies me.  People like that...I just try and walk away. but I usually get sucked into it and get mad... like today.
I am also a supporter of vaccination, not vaccinating your children is like handing them a death sentence.  Polio, people died from that, Small pox, one of the worst diseases ever seen.  I would vaccinate my kids against AIDS if I could. ( I have no kids)
I guess I like the government too much, right?
All this stuff, all from just one blog that drives me nuts.  The writer of that blog also doesn't know that Israel is a country.
I hate that I constantly have to defend myself and the truth against narrow minded people.
I need a tiny Adam Locke to come sit on my shoulder and tell me not to read stuff.  I am such a liberal now, 9th grade me, she hates this me.
If someone quotes Fox News a lot, they're just not a good person to talk to.

Canucks

Vancouver won, so I guess I'm cheering for them.  I am a little sad.

What?

This cracks me up, this guy is 23 but his IMDb picture is an old guy.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1002609/

Hockey and Snark, it's my life

The Vancouver Canucks, Chicago Blackhawks series is very nerve racking for me.  I still have no clue who to cheer for, game 7 is starting in 5 minutes.
I've said from the very beginning of the season that if Montreal doesn't get the cup then I want Vancouver to win it. Then they got set up against Chicago, my 3rd favourite team.  I still can't choose.
The Sendin twins are down right adorable, I aww every time I see them.  Johnathan Toews is my favourite NHLer at the moment.  I also have this thing for dynasties, the Canadiens in the 70's the Maple Leafs in the 60's (and never since) So if Chicago won then they could possibly carry on after their win last year.  If they weren't playing Vancouver I would cheer a lot louder.  Chicago is my my favourite American City. Vancouver is a Canadian team, so I cheer for Canadian teams until they all get knocked out.
Vancouver just scored.
I am torn to pieces.  Whoever wins tonight is who I'm cheering for.

On a side note, people use the word epic too much.\
And on a snarky side note I'm starting to hate reading Christian girl blogs.  Why, I find them unmodest, not in dress but in speech, gushing over boys every single blog post is just inappropriate.  I'm all for marriage, but if that's your only goal in life, and blog posts then...take a few steps back. I've gushed about 1 guy, once, and he's Batman so...can you blame me.  But that was once, not every post dissecting every mushy movie hero you have ever seen.  Yes I like that you cover your body but I don't like how you bear your inner thoughts on Flynn Rider, or that you talk about getting married or courting over and over..  I'm nasty sometimes.  Obviously this isn't a comment on the blog of every Christian girl, as I'm a Christian girl, who writes a blog.  I'm also cocky sometimes.
I need to stop.
The espadrille style of shoe is seriously the comfiest ever, more than my vans.

Day Seven

Day 7: Five things you couldn't possibly live without.

1. God
2.God
3. Water that God made
4.Air
5. Music.

Day Six

Day 6: A moment you wish you could relive.

There are a couple of days I'd like to relive.  If time travel existed, my travels would not be spent in my own life time fixing past wrongs because everyone knows that doesn't work but, a good majority of it would be spent on the boardwalks of New Jersey in the 70's.
But things in my actual life time would be, Canada Day 2010 was pretty killer, as was my sunburn.  I had so much fun that day.  Another would be  Thanksgiving Day 2010 (I had relatively good holidays last year)  that day was great.
I'm trying to think of others now.  Any day that I was every in Lunenberg after the first day I was in Lunenberg.  Not the first day because we got there late and everything was closed.  I hate getting to places late.

Day Five

Day 5: A favorite quote.

"History doesn't repeat itself but it does rhyme."- Mark Twain

This is my absolute favourite quote (not in the category of favourite Bible verse) because it is so true.  The more I study of history the more I see the parallels.  The Russian Revolution was based off the French Revolution, Hiltler studied Napoleon Bonaparte, who studied the Romans.  Everything rhymes.    My European history teacher actually praised  the fact that I can link so much of history together.  How many times have I done it on this blog alone?

I am clearly not as interesting a person as I thought I was.

Day Four

Day 4: A favorite television program.

iCarly, I love iCarly, it's hilarious, I watch it weekly, it's not overtly terrible.
All the Characters are hilarious and Gibby and Josiah are the same person. I would like to find you a video of this, but he's just a little too odd.

I've written a post about Corn Gas before, which clearly is the best Canadian show of all time.  I love wit, it's very witty.

The Office, the American version, I like it a lot, I try to watch it weekly.  Jim and Pam are my favourite television couple.  No one else in my family likes this show very  much but I commandeer the television every Thursday at 8 to watch it (but not this week because I have youth group)

Community, Ever since the first episode I saw which involved 2 grown me jumping on a trampoline kept by  a Nazi, I have loved this show.  One of the characters, Abed, pretty much only speaks in pop culture references so we relate.  My siblings and I quote or talk about it almost every day.  Chang (Ben Chang) is the man, he is the best character on that show.  He's an ex-Spanish teacher who is Asian, and his brother is a Rabi.  I could seriously just quote him for this entire post.

Parks and Recreation, My second favourite TV couple is on this show Amber and Andy, they're adorable.  I like this show a lot.  I don't dislike a single character on this show, which is really weird.  I mention Lil' Sebastian every day.
All of the above comedies are NBC, they are king right now.  Even if by magic or science they want it to be 1997 again (that was a 30 Rock reference)

Parenthood, which really isn't that funny, in the least but is wonderful.  I'm 3 episodes behind.

American Idol,I watch it every week.  I get emotional.

Day Three

Day 3: A favorite book.

I've already admitted that my favourite book is, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Which is amazing.

Another one of my favourite books is Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine, I've read it more times than I can count.
Star Girl by Jerry Spinelli is a book that I read far too  much than I Should. It's just so sweet.
My Favourite Harry Potter book is the Goblet of Fire, and oddly it's the only one I don't own.

The Children of Men by P. D. James was one of the best books I have ever read but I'm not sure if it's a favourite.

The Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer is great, and I have to reread it. It's crafted so wonderfully.  Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony or book 4 was the worst for me.  There's a new book out that I still haven't read and another, and, the last coming out in 2012.
The Uglies series by Scott Westerfield is mind blowing and really makes you question our culture, I though the whole series was great.  I tried another one of his series but it didn't measure up.

What's your favourite book or series?

Speaking of....

.... favourite movies, Up is one of them, the beginning is sooo cute.  I cry every time I watch it, even the time I was at camp and trying to be strong and normal, I cried.  I tried really hard not to, but then I did.
Goodness I love this movie.  I'm getting a lump in my throat right now.
Also who wouldn't want to float around in a house held up by hundreds of balloons?

Day Two

Day 2: A favorite movie.

Isn't this all I talk about on this blog?  Politics and movies?

Oceans 11.  Not the 2001 version with George Cloony and Brad Pitt, even though that version is amazing, and funny and witty.  I'm talking about the 1960 version with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr.  Which just oozes coolness.  It's also witty and Funny and includes the Rat Pack, which is undeniably the coolest thing ever.
This poster is very cool

You cannot say that this picture just doesn't look cool.

I wish I could have found a picture of Frank Sinatra sporting this puffy orange knit sweater but I couldn't.  He completely rocked it.
The ending to this movie is different than the 2001 version but is still a twist.

What's your favourite movie?

Day One

Day 1: A favorite song.

This is an extremely hard question, I love music, I'm indecisive.
Because I'm blogging and not posting pictures on Facebook, I'm going to break this into categories.

Favourite Christian Song
Show me Your Glory- Third Day

Song that I listen to obsessively
Dog Days are Over- Florence+ the Machine
p.s this video is extremely weird.

Song that makes me want to dance like crazy
Rosalita- Bruce Springsteen

Favourite song with a crazy good break down in the 2nd half.
Dustbowl Dance-Mumford and Sons

I'm putting two.
The Perfect Space- The Avett Brothers

I really could go on forever but I'm not going to.  I just posted 5 Youtube videos, crazy.  I do not at all expect you to watch every single one of these videos, because I wouldn't, and I have weird music taste.
I'm trying to make this blog more interactive, aiming for a video or picture with every post.

My Boys did it

Montreal won, and I burned nothing, I got in not drunken fights with a Bruins fan, I broke nothing.
I was very excited though.  Very excited we're up 2-0, that very good.  Boston has won no series when they've been down two, 26 to be exact.
Montreal and Boston have met in 31 series, that's insane.  That's a lot of broken and burnt stuff.

I really need to write better post titles.

For the next bit my blog will basically be devoted to the Montreal Canadiens, I'm not sorry.  Leafs fans, it's your loss.  As is it the Bruins.

Huge overreaction

I haven't blogged in too long.  I'd like to write about the debate but I'm feeling like that would be an extremely long under taking.  it may happen soon enough.  I'm going to write about hockey first (As the Canadiens won their first game :) )  I need to write about hockey, it's going to happen.  I've also still got that list of posts to write, they're in the back of my mind everyday now.

I find the most popular post on my blog odd, the homeschooling one makes sense, but the others....not so much.  For some reason my post called "The Crew" is insanely popular, and I don't know why.  Also the "New Layout?"  post is insanely popular and it's not a good post by any stretch.  I don't get it.

This is extremely funny, and fitting.  As the Canadiens fans seem to riot over everything, win or lose.

favourite dictator?

People ask me, why do you like public school so much?
Answer, because today my entire geography class sat around quizzing our teacher on his favourite things.  Seven course Indian meal, totally know it now.  That's why.
Now people will cry, but that is a waste of time, and you learned nothing.  Yes these things are true, but I had fun, and I laughed.  Laughing is proven to lengthen life, I will live longer now.

Debate

Women don't care what length of gun their killed with, but Gilles cares that you register your duck.

Canadian leaders are so much fun

This debate reminded me why Gilles Duceppe is so much fun.  Also why I like listening to Jack Layton, he's hilarious.

Moustache

If the picture yesterday wasn't a big enough hint, Terry Milewski is my faourite journalist.  He works for the CBC and is their head political correspondent.
I would have liked to find his report on the G8 summit but it is not to be found, it was sarcastic and amazing.  I did find this fake commercial from the Rick Mercer Report, it's pretty good.

I'm cutting this post pretty short because the leaders debate starts in 5 minutes.  YAY!

Challenge and Habs

The French Language debate was moved, from Thursday to Wednesday.  Why might you ask?  Because the Montreal/Boston series starts on Thursday and you simply can't have the two events on the same night.  Only in Canada.
I'm watching The Outsiders right now. I like that movie.
I'm drifting farther and farther from being serious.  I think I should just give up now.

So a post about this guy will be coming up,  3 super cool blog points for you if you can tell me who this is.

Winning

The Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing tonight.  The Habs are already in, and the leafs can't get in.  It's going to be interesting.  The playoffs start on Tuesday!!!!  Boys lets do this( yes I refer to my team as boys, or guys)  We came so close last year, lets go all the way.
If we don't win, which we will, then I'm cheering for the Canucks.  2nd team for the cup.
I'm excited, I love the playoffs.  And there's a election and the playoffs at the same time, best spring ever!

This isn't very serious.

samarah is really cool, and i love her to the moon and back . . oh wait , make that to pluto and back. (: she is so amazing, what did i do to deserve such an incredible sister. ♥ so much madluv4her!

Animal Farm

I just finished reading Animal Farm by George Orwell, and I thought it was amazing.  This being said I am a history buff and have a bizarre interest in Communism.
Animal Farm is an allegory for the time of the Russian Revolution and the beginnings of Communism. (understand why I like it?)  I spent the whole time comparing it to the actual events and people. It mirrors it perfectly, things that happened in the Russian Revolution (and by that I mean until WWII, though the Soviets got trapped in that state until the 90's) also happened in an animal way in the book.  Animalism replaces Communism, but it is nearly the same idea.
The Seven Commandments of Animalism are: (all of these are broken and/or changed by the end of the book)
  1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
  2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
  3. No animal shall wear clothes.
  4. No animal shall sleep in a bed.
  5. No animal shall drink alcohol.
  6. No animal shall kill any other animal.
  7. All animals are equal.
The book is really really short, so if you have an interest in Communism, or History you should definitely read it.  I would say that you would need to know how Communism was started and how the Russian Revolution happened to read this book, if not, you'll be super confused.
I liked the book, and like all things on this blog that's my opinion.  I usually like stuff most people don't.
After I'm done the Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald I'm reading 1984, Orwell's other novel.

The Cult of the Supreme Being.

I bet you didn't know that during the French Revolution they invented a new calendar (and the metric system..but that was a good thing)  Yes they invented a new calender, it had 12 months with 3 weeks made up of 10 days with 5 days left over as complimentary days.  They did this to dechristianize the nation.  The 10 day week was so people wouldn't know what day Sunday was.  They removed any trace of the Catholic faith from the country, including creating a new calender and renaming streets.
These ideas were brought forth by the Cult of the Supreme Being.  They realized that people need a religion to believe in, hence they created the Cult of the Supreme Being.
Maximilien Robespierre was the leader of the France at the time, this was during the reign of terror, or the great terror.  He started out as a good leader, strong man that didn't like violence.  He wanted to change France into a democratic state without an absolute ruler, without a king that taxed the poor and helped the rich.  A country where all men were equal (men, not women)  By the end, he was insane.  Really he was, thousands of people were killed under him, he thought that the only way that peace could be found was through violence.  Soviet Russia would echo this era in the future.  Suspicion was high , and you could be beheaded for anything.  He was also the supreme being that gave the cult it's name, he became bigger than the cause.  He truly believed that with out him it would all crumble.
So the Festival of the Supreme being one day no killings happened, and it was found out that a giant paper mache mountain had been built in the middle of Paris.(see painting above)  Robespierre descended from the top of the mountain draped in a toga. This is when people realized that he had gone crazy.
He was beheaded a little while later.
Like most great leaders he just got caught up with greed and hate and murder.  They wanted to save their countries, but in the end killed it's people.

Serious Week

I want to blog about serious things like Terry Melewski, and hockey, and the Cult of the Supreme Being.
This week, it's serious week.
And I will not quote the Dark Knight....I'll really try.
I sound like a News Show.

Hey I'm a Green Party Representative and I'm in the Conservative Stronghold of Nova Scotia and I'm wondering if you would vote for me?

I've missed the election by one month.  Exactly one month.  Election date May 2nd 2011, my Eighteenth birthday, June 2nd 2011,  Not cool David Johnson, super not impressed. But I have some things to look forward to, if Harper doesn't get a majority he'll lose the leadership of the Conservatives, and we'll need a new election.  If Layton gets in, well he's sick.  That was really mean.
I'm excited still, I love elections.  I'm going to watch the entire coverage and laugh and be mad and yell at people.  The Green Party candidates are really funny.  Last election I yelled at the entire province of Newfoundland because not a single Conservative got in.
Also the fact that Elizabeth Maye ran against Peter McKay in a extremely Conservative part of Nova Scotia, that has almost always been Conservative , highly amuses me.  Why did she do that?  I don't know.  She lost, by a ton.  Then she was like what?  Now she's running out west, I still don't think she will win.
If Harper does get over thrown because of a minority I'm hoping John Baird gets the leadership, that would be fun.  Or Peter McKay, by he seems like he's going to leave soon.
Stockwell Day is done in politics, now maybe I wont confuse him with Conrad Black.  That is not a good mix-up.
This is my longest post title ever.

Let them eat...wait that didn't happen.

Why does everyone love Marie Antoinette so much?  I just don't get it.  She was kind of a horrible person.  She helped bankrupt  France, which ultimately lead to the revolution, which lead to the killing of thousands.  But in the end it worked out okay, after the deaths.
We've been studying the French Revolution if European history.  So interesting., so much stuff went down.
But back to Marie Antoinette, sure she was glamorous, she dressed nice, she was rich  But why the obsession?  I guess because I know the history I'm turned off.   Sometimes history ruins everything...nope not really.  Now I wont make the mistake of liking her.
You know she never said "Let then eat cake"  Never happened.  She also was almost ripped limb from limb by fish women.  In the end only her head was cut off.  The nursery rhyme Jack and Jill is partly based off her and Louis XVI.  She also had a mini old fashioned French village constructed in the back woods of Versailles
You know you can always come to me for boring historical facts and political rants.  There are defiantly more to come.
